Question on AC adapter for scanner

OK, I'm a dunce when it comes to electricity.

The AC adapter died on my Epson Perfection 3170 scanner. I ordered one on line from powerpayless.com and the website stated it was specifically for that particular model. It came today and in checking it over before pluging it in, I see that it says "Output DC24v---2A". The original one and the markings on the scanner itself say "24V---1.1A".

I see that the voltage is the same and the polarity of the plug is correct (+ in the center, - on the outside), but does it matter about the Amp marking? I don't want to take a chance on messing up my scanner.

Thanks.

Re: Question on AC adapter for scanner

No worries. The device will draw only the amperage it needs, which is no more than 1.1A (since that's the rating of the original adapter). You could have a problem with an adapter rated for less than the original.

Thanks, NYBo, that was my guess but I wanted to check.

Is there a good basic book or website that might cover the basics of electricity? I really should be better at it.
