Ok, so today we are out on the boat and everything is going pretty good for about an hour or so then while tubing slowly (young daughter new at tubing) the boat starts to spudder and running sluggish and then stalls out all within about a half a minute. I for the life of me could not get it to start and had to be towed in (thank GOD for TowboatUS). It would crank over just as good as ever but would fire for a second like wants to start and then stall out. All the gauges and everything before and after were normal, yeah the gas tank was full and she was not overheating at the time. The gas line and filters are new and the carb was professionally rebuilt this spring and everything only has about 10 hours on them. No leaks or gas smell anywhere. We even waited about an hour while swimming to restart, thinking it flooded out but the same thing. Sorry for the lengthy description but I figured it might help my odds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: question for the 470 3.7l guys?

Update - replaced the anti siphor valve, inline filter, new fuel pump, blew out the line and it started right up (for about 2 minutes then stalled out). looked down in the carb and it was dumping gas down into the base. I forgot to put that little 1/4" washer plate back in. Not wanting to take a chance I took the carb back to get the float reset and get it cleaned out (because when I manually pump the old pump by hand I get a black dust and particles that come up and when I shake it, it sounds like things are broke in there). Well after I put the plate back in and the carb back on it works great. Thanks for all great replys (I guess I've been black balled or there are no more 470 guys out there or they are just tired of talking about them).

Nah! Come on back when you got a "real 470" problem, like coolant squirting out of some orifice or stator magnets flying out and we will be right here.:D

I most definitly will be back I'm sure. This is by far the greatest site for answers and suggestions. I just thought I didn't get the memo that we were band from mentioning those three dreadful little numbers - 470 hahaha.

Compared to ANY OMC product, 470's are Mercedes-Benz class!

I Have the 3.7 and I had the same problem and the boat acted the same way. My issue was about a half gallon of water in the bottom of the fuel tank after I fillled the damn tank. Not fun pumping 40 gallons of fuel out of the tank to suck all the water out.
