Good day people, I am new to the forum so this question may or may not have been asked already??.. If it has in the past 190 or so pages of threads?lets play the record again if you don?t mind?.for those of you who own one?what is the reasoning for dual props on the Volvo drives? We are possibly going to convert a OMC Cobra 5.7 to the Volvo but we are having trouble with the price difference between dual and single prop. Is it worth the extra money? What are the Pros/cons? What is the reasoning for going dual prop? Just seems like a lot of extra moving parts to wear out to me.

Re: Question for owners

My take:

Benefits:
Much better (in water) efficiency (or grip) for higher powered engines (worth a lot with gas at $4/gallon)
Reduced "tourque" steer since props are counter rotating

Drawbacks:
A tad more complex (but really only an issue if you have a problem)
Expensive propellers and much more $$$ if you happen to hit something
Initially more expensive to purchase

Re: Question for owners

pros
better hole shot, lower rpms at cruising speed (gas milage), easier backing into slip
and looks cool to boot

cons
price
i just switched from a sx to a dps and am glad i did
i purchased the dp used so price was better
kept the sx as a spare for this year
will sell next year to offset purchase a little

bottom line is: happy i switched
