question for marine doctor

service bulletin from yamaha say not to drain the cabs for winter storage just add fuel stabilizer to the gas and run for 15 min. they reason was the seals in the carbs will start to dry out.<br />Was wondering what do you think on this subject?

2 stroke or 4 stroke?<br /><br />I would advise to do what the factory calls for. Not really sure about their reasoning...If they have concerns about seals drying out...then I am sure they will have concerns about ethanol based fuels, They should also maybe find a different compound for their seals.<br /><br />As for Winterizing..I would recommend for any engine..run fuel conditioner through the fuel, then set to store. You never do get all the fuel out of the carbs anyway, when you run it out of gas.<br /><br />TMD
