D, Your procedure for venting air from the top of eng. block to solve regulator failures sounds very good. This was a must on the huge nat. gas compressors I worked on years ago. If you don't mind sharing, where would you vent from, and would this be a constant venting through a small hose? Thanks again for sharing what you have already tolds us...

Re: Question for Dhadley

We go to the highest point on the block, not the head (very important), which is above number one cylinder and drill into the water jacket. Then install a plastic "T" fitting (337594). On cross flows and open deck loopers simply add the "T" into the existing overboard indicator line. On closed deck loopers install a 90 degree fitting (321886), hose and pan fitting (321885).

An interesting side note -- ever noticed how the starboard pistons carbon up (coke up) before the port pistons? Once the block is vented the starboard build up is reduced to the same rate as the port side.

They did basically the same thing to the 56 inch 3 cylinder blocks a few years back when they moved the fitting from the side plate to the top of the block.

Hope this helps.
