Re: Question for california sailboats

Boat registrations are for two years and cost $29 in even years and $9 for one year in the odd years. You can get more info at : http://www.dmv.ca.gov/boatsinfo/boatreg.htm

I look after a fleet of 16 sailboats and my budget is $14000 per year which works out to $875 per boat per year. This is for sail repair and rigging replacement,
and does not include dock/slip fees which average about $ 12 per foot per month.

Thanks Brian that was very helpful can you tell me what comes with a slip $12 per foot? and what does it cost you to get your boat out of the water so you can paint the hull? I am very new to the concept of sailing vers the small fishing boats I have had and need a lot of info.

The answer to that is : It all depends.
Perhaps if you could give me a clue as to how big a boat you have or are contemplating getting, I can give you a more definitive answer.

I just realised you are located in Oceanside, Prices are a little lower there than in San Diego. The last Quote I had from there was $ 9 to $10 per foot if you can find a slip. If you are military or retired military check out Santa Margaretta YC on the base at Camp Pendleton.
