Question: BottomLine Fish finder question

I had my Bottomline ff wired through the ignition switch on my boat. My question is this: It is wired through the hot side of the switch (only works when the switch is on or the motor is running). Can I also hook the power wire of the ff to the auxillary side of the switch? That way, I can use it without having to run the motor or leave the switch on and mess up the ignition. Yes you can to answer your question.<br />The hot side of the switch, which is the side the battery is hooked to.
