I have a question or rather some extra opinions on my boat set up. Ive never had a boat before like this one with the boat eye so close to the front edge of the bow before.. My problem is that where I dock the ramp is so steap and when I release the rope the eye hangs up on the roller. I have played with adjustments and cant find a good soulation:|. I can adjust the roller arm forward and back and up and down as well as the winch post it self.can move forward and backwards. Just thought some could give me some better ideas here are a some pics to give you an idea

In your third photo I might have an answer,

Remove the front roller and shaft. Have it welded or bolted to the first cross member on the trailer and have it stop the boat at the keel.

Or have a keel stop installed on the trailer. I just took a quick photo of part of mine for an idea to you

Any way you do it the exsisting roller should be moved.

Seaman,

A simpler solution is to not back the trailer in so far. The stern is floating thus changing the angle.

Re: Question about winch and roller placement

I don't have the problem at the lake ramp its not so steep and the boat comes off nicely.. but at the dam where I fish 99% of the time the ramp is so steep you have to back the entire trailer into the water as the water is not so deep that when the Stern finally floats the angle is so severe that the boat catches on the roller..

Bob, That was a good idea. I didn't think of that about moving the roller or fabricating it to the cross member.
Thanks, Jason

I dont know what equipment you have access to, but you could cut it into weld a 1/4" plate on each side of one of the halfs bolt and pin the other, then you could pull the pin when needed so it would swing down and out of the way

Re: Question about winch and roller placement

Move the trailer eye below the bow stop?
Or move it down some and the b/s up some?

sorry best I can come up with.

When you get done with this topic I want to ask how your Terry boat handles rough water.

I thought of that jtexas, But i didnt want to tear into the bow of the boat. It would be hard to get to the bow eye without cutting a hole in the deck.

Its not too bad . Did hit a barge wake that jared me pretty good tho. I havent had it in really rough of water as I just had my fourth back surgery in june (last one double fusion) so im afraid to do much right now. But I really like the boat, it handles big wakes pretty good while im fishing. I havent had the boat that long and trying to get it fixed up as I can. but got a sweet deal tho.
