Question about warranty service

I have a question about warranty service that came to mind after reading another thread here by Meddyn.

I have a Mercury painted Tohatsu 6HP for my sailboat that I bought new. I also know that all Mercury engines 30 HP and below, are made by Tohatsu.

This may seem like a dumb question, but would a Tohatsu dealer perform warranty service on these engines, even though it says Mercury on the hood?

Unless the dealer is a Merc servicer, he will not have access to warranty reimbursement from Merc. So... No.

Thanks Paul. Just wasn't sure how everything works between Merc and Tohatsu.
