I met Bill Fannin at the Cleveland boat show last winter. I ordered a trailer for my 28' Marinette and placed a large deposit.
He promised the trailer by April. He is now not returning my calls (or my deposit).
Does anyone have any information about him or his business. He implied he had some health issues but I don't know, he is not responding.

Follow up: I have heard from Bill, he indeed was having health issues that are thankfully resolved and he is making good on our deal.

Re: Question about Sur-line trailers in Port Clinton

Last year, I contacted Bill Fannin at Sur Line to build me a trailer for my 32 ft Wellcraft St Tropez. I sent him a downpayment of 6818.00. He told me that the trailer would be done in about 6 weeks. Since then, I've only heard from him a couple of times and now I can't get a hold of him at all. I did see him at last years Cleveland boat show, and he stil promised that the trailer would be built. Well, after doing some digging around, my bank told me that he has cashed my check on August 12, 2011 at a check cashing institution. This way, it is very hard to trace. As far as I"m concerned, this man is a thief.

Sorry to hear this type of news.

You are a trusting soul, and wish you the best.

But I would have been filing suit, getting judgements, attaching liens, and/or doing whatever was possible to get my money back, in December of last year.

Good luck.

Have you contacted any of the dealers or marinas that used to sell his trailers, or refer customers to him?
