I bought a new promariner porsport 12 2 bank charger. I have it installed and hooked up to my trolling motor. It was in a compartment with the lid open and it felt really hot when it was plugged in. It has an indicator that tells you what type battery you are using and then you put the right color cap in the back, it tells me Gel cell so I put the gray cap in. Is it suppose to get hot? I'm an using a autocraft marine deep cycle group size 27 battery and reserve capacity at 90 AH. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: question about my onboard charger

Yes it is normal for them to get quite warm at first. After it goes into the maintenance mode it will cool down.

Thanks I also emailed them and there site said it will get warm to the touch and you wouldn't want to carry it across the room. Lol
