hey gents !

i have freshly rebuild my holley 2300 500 cfm on a volvo penta 3.0 and the boat runs basicly nor better neither worse than before BUT it has a little bit less power.

the top end is 2-3 mph lower ( and rpm,s are lower ) and the hole shot also a little bit.

the rebuild parts incorporate beyond a gasket set mainly the new power valve and a new floating level valve ( adjustable ).

can you tell me if its possible the power valve has an influence on hole shot and top end ? can the floating level valve give a difference in power output ? i,m seriously thinking of build in back the old parts.

thanks much for any information !

Re: question about a holley carb

Power valve only lets more fuel oin when a pre determined vacuum "loss" is reached during acceleration. I belive my kit had a 6.5 and a 3.X. 6.5 opens sooner so performance may be better with that. Also my holley kit had the wrong accelerator pump diaphram. Holley had me change it out to one that pumped more gas on acceleration. Float level could make a diffierence if you are right on the edge of fuel starvation at upper RPM. May want to set that up a bit.

Re: question about a holley carb

thanks for the reply ! the question of the power valve is : does different power valves only open on different vaacuums or does it also deliver different amounts of fuel when opened ? so is the difference only at what throttle setting the "extra" fuel starts or is the total amount of fuel influenced also at WOT, so pover valve opened ...

btw : i also had the wrong acc diaphram in the original volvo repair kit - ended up installing back the old one !
