I have a 1996 4.3 vortec V6 (Volvo with Delco electronic ignition). Lost spark after running, then got it back when cooled. I replaced the ignition module. I used one obtained from local Auto Parts Store. I was told that they were all the same. Here is my problem/question: When I shunt the distributor to set base timing, nothing changes. When I remove the shunt and rev engine I do not get any advance. I am guessing that there must be a different module for marine applications? Can anyone confirm this or could the new module just be defective?
