I was at my local Wally World today and noticed they had a Quantum "Iron" Baitcasting reel. This is the round style type which was on a rod handle in one of their sale cabinets for $59 and change. I think this is a good price but I wanted to look at some of my Cabelas and BPS catalogs to see if it was a deal or just a little reduction off their regular price. However, I can't find any info. The salesperson indicates it has been a display model an therefore does not come with any box or paperwork. It looks like a good reel for trolling at a decent pricepoint.

Does anyone know of this reel and if their $59 sale price is fair?

Helpful advice appreciated.

Kevin

I have one of the Quantum Iron bait casting reels and it is fantastic. I've had it for about 3 years now. I mostly use it for trolling and am very pleased it. Very tough and dependable. :)

Re: Quantum Iron Baitcaster ??

I have two of the Quantum Iron reels, and I am very satisfied with them. They have a fairly high gear ratio, which is important to me when using surface "walk the dog" baits like the Zara Spook. I use them in salt water, and just recently had to replace one of the ball bearings on the spool of one of them because of some rust. However, this was after about three years of salt water use, which is about the norm. The second one is still just fine with original bearings. And, your price seems good. Go for it.
