looking to either purchase new q-jets or replace them with something else. this is for chevy 3.8l v6's. i have had problems with these carbs since i have owned this boat (fuel bowls leaking into intake, hard warm starting, etc.) i have purchased remans with no luck. i think i can put new edelbrocks on, but then i need to change intakes??? i dont have enough clearance for the adapter plates.

anyone with any advice please chime in. anyhelp is appreciated.

Well, yes and no. The qjet is a spreadbore, while the 1409 is a square bore. There may or may not be enough "meat" to allow a simple bolt on. Different manifolds will have varying amounts of material. The key is to have enough to not cause a vacuum leak.

When you say you don't have enough clearance for the adapter you realize they are less than an inch right? You must have some very limited clearances! Perhaps you could find a flame arrester with a lower profile. Just a thought.
