The shift trigger never worked right as long as I've owned this boat (rod and pin were removed) but I'm trying to get it to work this summer. I'm not sure how the rod and lock pin are supposed to work. I've got the cover off the controls so I can play around with them. When I put the lever into neutral and press in the pin by hand, the trigger has a very hard time getting the pin to back out so I can shift... it sort of wiggles it out after about 10 squeezes. And I dont see how the pin is supposed to slip into the lockring on it's own... there's no spring to force it back. Maybe my rod is bent? There just doesnt seem to be enough going on when I squeeze the trigger.

Re: QS remote control help (shift trigger)

Thanks Don S

Looks like the cover needed to be on to work properly. The rod uses the cover to limit it's movement outward causing it to pivot just slightly at the pin. Amazingly simple... no wonder I couldn't figure it out :)
