Q's about Yamaha side mount controls.

When I get the 90hp Yamaha I'm looking for, I will need a side mount control. I see the standard 703 surface mount control box will work just perfect, and it has the 7 pin connector for the motor.

But I would prefer to use a concealed side mount like the 6X0 model:

It appears that the 6x0 has a neutral switch, and power tilt/trim wires. But how does the 7 pin from the motor get connected to the dash ignition switch, alarm, tach, etc? Is there a male 7 pin connector that can be used to connect to a generic harness?

Just wondering how its done, because its what I would like to use.

the 703 you need is a 10 pin harness.
if you use the 704 or the 6x0 box you have to buy a kyswitch and panal assy and the correct length 10 pin main harness and with any you will also need the trim and warnig indicate harness.

Ahhh, I am learning....

So the 703 w/7 pin does not have a tilt/trim switch in the grip?

The 703 w/10 pin will have the tilt/trim switch in the grip?

Going with the right 703 does sound like it simplifies things a lot...... :D

BTW, it seems that most 703 controls come with a 16' harness. That is more than enough to rig up my Bayliner. If I buy a used 703, I may have to buy new cables anyway so they fit my short boat well.

correct, the 7 pin harness was for non trim and tilt electric start engines.
the 10 pin hull side will fit the 7 pin engine side so its all we stock.
