If someone is putting in a depth finder and is going to be putting small screws in the transom to hold the wire clips and the actual end of the finder, should that person put silicone around the screws?

Now the reverse question:
Say someone wants to disassemble the wire from a depth finder. There's small screws holding the wire clips and the base of the finder, should the screws be removed and silicone put in, or just leave the screws in place and don't mess with it?

Use 3M 5200 sealant for the installtion of the screws. When removing everything you can either reinstall the screws with sealant or fill in the holes with marine polyester filler or epoxy, especially if you will not use the holes again.
