I’ve got a 1988 four Winns liberator 211 with the bbf460 baby king cobra. I’m putting a complete rebuilt baby king cobra outdrive back on, my old one is ruined. It will be diy’er. I’m installing a new gimbal and gaskets. I was on Crowley marine and it was like reading Chinese to figure out the part numbers. Soo what site for parts is user friendly and which parts do I really need.

2. Was thinking of installing a power hatch any suggestions there?

3. I’m going to pick up the rebuilt outdrive on Saturday how can be positive it’s a match?

Bennett makes a power unit with a 3rd tap for hydraulic cylinder on the hatch

Is that water in your driveshaft bellows? If so you gotta replace it...
As far as the drive, the Baby King has the standard Cobra upper gear housing and a bigger lower unit from the Evinrude V8 outboard. Look at the pix I posted in your other thread, you can see the bigger lower unit. Yours should look like that....
Boat looks great. I think its worth a re-power when the time comes!

When you install the drive, make sure to coat the gasket on both sides with OMC gasket sealer (or Merc Perfect Seal or Permatex Aviation sealer), coat the threads for the 6 studs with it also. Coat the driveshaft splines with OMC triple guard grease and motor oil on the 0 rings. I like to clean out the pocket where the bell crank lives in the pivot housing and pack that area with triple guard grease also.

No lou the drive shaft seal failed and all of my unit gear oil was in the bellows. Soo what is the best site or place to purchase these items.

And lou....thanks for that link that’s really informative. Are there different ratios on the same outdrive like on the baby king cobra or are they all the same ratio when it comes to this unit?

Well if you have a local shop that sells Evinrude outboards they can order any parts if they are still available from BRP. You can also get OE parts from Crowley Marine, I've used them for years. The drives all have different ratios for the different engines.

I will keep my effed up outdrive and send it to all American outdrives to get it rebuilt from them. That’s an uptown shop!!! I’m just fingers crossed that the one two hours away that I will be buying is the right one???

Those numbers exactly jive with my understanding at least the 1.43/1 and the 21 and 17 upper I didn’t have a lower number. Thanks. I’m gonna try to get some pics of the rebuilt one.
