Well we had a great last trip. We did the Carolina Loop. It was a great trip but we realised that every weekend until mid Novemember is taken up so I decided that I will spend this weekend putting her up for the winter. Good season over all, put about 75 hours on the boat this year. Saturday she gets the good scrub down. The fluids were changed about 15 hours ago so I am not going to bother doing them, I know we will get a nice weekend in December or Jan and we will do the oak island to Wilmington run for a night. Just venting. I hate the end of season and I am not really looking forward to the 8 hours it will take to put her in the local lake, get the tank pumped put her back on the trailer, clean the inside, clean the outside and put the pink stuff everywhere.

Our season was filled with rain on what seemed like every weekend. Grrrr. I'm not winterizing until 10/31 so I'll get in a cruise or two. :)

We had rain most of June, but a lot of great weather since April. Got some time for a few more cruises left this season. Probably put her up for the winter some time in late November. Luckily we don't get below 32 degrees until late December.

Winterize??? and miss the trout and drum fishing during winter? No wonder the fishing is so enjoyable-- no one is here.

Re: Putting her up for the winter

We had a great boating season--- from March to June. Last time we used the Chap was Sept 1st, 2nd to last day of our vacation, made it to the no-wake buoys before the storm turned us around. The rest of our vacation added up to about 4 hours of boating and catching zero fish. Since Labor day every weekend- and most week DAYS for that matter have been windy, and/or rainy, and/or thunder and lightning. And the last 2 winters have been lean on snow so now our lake is down to about 3-1/2' deep so...... it was with great frustration that I winterized the Chap last weekend. First time I've ever winterized a boat before November.

But I made future winterizations easier- I replaced the drain plugs with fittings and hoses. From now on draining the engine and risers will be a 1 minute ordeal... I'll talk more about it in about 13 months... ;)
