Re: Puter Question

Hi Spinner_bait Nut, yes I have. I use ViaVoice v9 by IBM, works pretty good right out of the box after you read a prepared text to it, this sets it to your voice, you can have additional users each with thier own setup. Then the more you use it the better it gets at recognizing your speech, it requires WIn 98, ME, or XP, with minimums of 266mhz microprocessor, 64meg of ram, 460mb of hard drive, quad speed CD-rom drive, you also need a sound card with microphone input in your computer. The package includes the combo headset/microphone. It works directly with Internet Explorer so you can navigate the web just by speaking. There are other voice software brands available but this works for me. If you have any questions just ask.

Re: Puter Question

Sorry SBN, no experience here. The Via Voice that Slowly Sinking mentions has been around a long time and thus should be one of the best products out there.

Re: Puter Question

Thanks SlowlySinking. I have a mic jack on the back of my puter. This is where I would plug the headset in, Right?
Also, does it work on forums like this one? Or is it more for e-mails and the such?
Also does this look like it would work?
Dragon

Re: Puter Question

Hi Spinner_bait Nut, The mic jack is what you will need, the headphone is optional and allows silent use without entertaining your family.
Q: Does it work on forums like this one? Or is it more for e-mails and the such?
A: ViaVoiceworks directly with many win based programs, it includes it's own word processor which I use, then I cut and paste where I need the text. Dragon seems to be just as suitable and the price is right. As I remember Dragon received good remarks on the magazine reviews. Try a web search on both and check the reviews. They're also fun to use. If you want to I can sell you my ViaVoice v7 at a great price, new in box with headphone/mic, manual, etc. Ken

Re: Puter Question

Hey Ken, got the package today and it works pretty good.
Of course I will have to work with it more so it will learn my voice, but it will be ok.
It even works on this forum also. :D
Again, thanks.

Re: Puter Question

Hi Lester, real glad you like it, it takes a bit of time for it to learn your voice. I had no idea it would work with this forum, sort of a bonus. Thanks for letting me know, Ken
