I been having a problem with my switchs. I took them out of the boat so I could take a look. On the back of the switch there are 3 terminals. Should there be a certain way to hook it up? Example should one terminal be for the battery and the other 2 for the device? When I connect each terminal directly to the battery each one has power but when I check the other two terminals they don't have power. Also can you take them apart in to two pieces?

Don't know what switch your talking about, but on mine, the switch connects one output to two inputs, or vice verse i.e. One fuel gauge connected to two fuel tanks. Switch up, Tank 1, Switch down, Tank 2,

Should be a wiring diagram in your manual

A lot of those are also used for nav lights. It can have several types of contacts, a off, on, and both on or a off, on 1, and on 2. In the sea choice line of switches thats part number 11911 or a 11912.

Using a digital camera to take pictures while doing work will save you a lot of head scratching or marking wires with masking tape and a sharpie.
