What is the minimum and maximum horsepower for a 1976 Ranger Fish and Plan (18 ft in length)? I am new to the Ranger forum and wanted to ask a question about a potential purchase. I am looking at a 1976 Ranger Fish and Play. It is 18.5 ft in length. Has a very clean Ranger trailer - no rust. The motor is a 1978 70 hp evinrude. Motor runs good and the hull seems in good shape. My question and concern is: Is the evinrude 70 hp motor adequate for 2 - 3 people fishing out of the boat. I am 60 years old and not concerned with speed as I am with satisfactory boating...I normally run at half throttle most of the time.
The boat, motor and trailer has been advertised for $1300 but the seller said he would take $1000.
