i was thinkin you must be crazy, crabbie - but then maybe i was thinking of watermelons... either way, out in the midwest, there is a huge contest to hurl something, maybe watermelons.<br />they have machines that make a potato gun look like a wet fart. somewhere out there they hurl some kind of fruit/vegetable something like 100yds with homemade machines...<br /><br />but hey when i saw your post, i was thinkin of herlin, chunkin so i got off on the wrong track. i thought you meant you went to Daytona Beach and ate oysters and drank too many margarita's <br /><br />so where do you chunk your pumpkins?

it all began rite here in LEWES de. back in '86.. with a nutty local blacksmith [ you should see his beautiful old shop ] by the name of john ellsworth an his crazy sidekicks lookin' for another way to test there testosterone levels & ingenuity..<br />the town's full of ole farmers & waterman who learn how to fix their stuff & all sorts of things .. they're craftsman & can make most anythin' from scratch...<br /><br />they already did the wood choppin' & the anvil throwin' & street gutter golf.. in a recent news article about a salisbury state university physics professor had been hurlin' pumpkins.. the fellas started arguein' .. an one thing led to another .. an to settle to fight to see how far they could 'hurl' an orange gord,, with junkyard debris...<br /><br />they set the date for the first weekend after holloween ,, cause the gords would be plenty & cheep...<br /><br />soon the word spread that the 'idoits' where at it again .. and drew a small crowd...<br /><br />the winner chunked-a-punkin' between 50 to 128 feet .. dependin' who's story you believe more...<br /><br />today it draws over 25,000 drunkards an chunkin'orange gords more than 2200 feet.... it's a fun weekend ,, for sure..!!

yeah,, that's funny DJ..lol..!!<br /><br />there's different classes/catagories.. <br />cataput,,centafugal,,and air... an more,,i think ?? even kids have a contest.. money goes to charities.. and believe me ,,this is B I G STUFF.. alotta money is drawn here...<br /><br />but the 'big guns' are now all compressed air cannons..<br /><br />they moved the 'chunkin' ' field to a new location i know 3 times cause of the crowds & the longer distances...<br />they'll havta move it outta state next time,, HEY,,,delaware's only so big ..!!<br /><br />the only rules that i know are NO explosive propulsions can be used...<br /><br />that's a good idea 'bout the red/green show.... but LETTERMAN beat them to it .. and had the 'king-of-punkin'-chunkin' himself ,, smithy JOHN ELLSWORTH on his show in the early years.. shootin' yellow taxi cabs with orange gords on a blocked-off street in new york city ,, just out side the studio... ellsworth dented the heck out one at the other end of the block...
