I am rebuilding a baitwell on a 27 foot Catamran with twin outboards. I want to add a double bilge pump box for water pickup and filling of the bait tank. I have a great location below the waterline but it is in the middle of the boat.

Positives:

1. Very close to the baitwell
2. Very close to wiring and switches
3. Below waterline location
4. Easy access for adjustments and maintaining.

Cons:
1. Everything I am reading says to install pump boxes as far aft as possible.
2. Will need to install a new thruhull water pickup here.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Every cat style boat from Freeman and Calcutta have the pump box at the stern.

if you never go on plane, you can have it in the middle

however to keep it fed with water, it needs to be at the stern

"add a double bilge pump box".......never heard of such a thing

My raw water wash-down and bait well pumps are both feed via scoop type thru hulls 24"-30" fore of the transom.

My only concern mid-ship would be if the intake is still below the water line on plane.
Have to watch out that you don't cause turbulence at the props.
