Hiya, second time using iboats... love this place.

Just purchased a 1986 Bayliner Capri with an 85hp Force, all is very good, but when under power the boat pulls VERY HARD to the right. I turned the Torque tab left and right.. nothing helps, only gets worse so put in the middle for now.. It dont pull when starting but pulls when when going and I can't hold it very long.. I tried to to shim the motor on the transom both ways, nothing... any suggestions?? Thanks for the help. Jc

Try trimming your motor out some as soon as you throttle it up.

Yes, sorry, I did try trimming on plane, turned the torque tab, tried the plane boards... shimmed the engine off of the transom left and right by nearly 3/8". It seems that if I put the torque tab in the center, and put the plane boards on, that's about the best it can be. But it takes everything I have to hold the boat straight. The torque tab is actually the exhaust port also, so it is kinda wide, not skinny like on my Johnson 55hp on my fishing boat... thanks for the help. Jc

If the steering has always been tough sounds like you could use a no-feedback steering system which eliminates the engine torque. Try Teleflex.

It will always pull a little to the right from the motor torque. Is the hull damaged anywhere? That could cause it to pull.

Time to check the hull to see if it's been repaired. Could be a bent keel or twisted hull. Hope I'm wrong.
