Re: Pulling my 87 5.7 mercruiser engine

Ok! getting close to pulling my engine, here's my pre engine pull list, if you guys notice anything I didnt disconnect but need to please chime in.

Removed the out drive.
removed the fuel line
removed the 4 lag bolts from the motor mounts
removed the 2 long bolts that hold the engine to the transom housing
removed the water coolant hose from the transom housing
loosened the screw clamps from the y pipe to the engine
disconnected the alternator to battery cable
disconnected the trim sensor wires from the engine
disconnected the starter cable
diconnected the shift cables and throttle cable
disconnected the ground wires
disconnected the power steering lines
disconected the ignition plug from the engine.
I think thats everything?

Lift it up, if you find anything still connected, take it off.

Crack a beer X 3

Usually followed by a thread titled "Just worked on my engine and it won't start"

I did find one of the motor mount lags to be stripped, hoping the mount isnt rotted. Ill drill some holes once the engine is out.

LMAO Dam I forgot.. its engine "removal".. so actually its more like crack a beer x8
Helps ease the sting when you find things like rotten stringers and rusty bolts along the way.
