Anyone know how much power it takes to pull approx. 500 lbs on a tube? Can a 90hp 2 stroke on a runabout handle that?

A better question might be - assuming you get 500lbs whipping around on a tube, will whatever it is attached to stay attached to the boat ;)

I agree wth oldjeep. Make sure your tie points are solid!

On that note, we have pulled a 3 person tube behind a 15' runoabout with a 75hp Force. It worked, but you really had to work the boat to give the kids a 'good ride'. ;)

The tube will stop the boat if the nose digs in but you can tow it.

See my little 10 foot long GW Invader in my Avitar, well actually 10 foot 3 inches but I do not want to brag. Its shown with a Old 33 HP Johnson but has a 1974 50HP now and I pull a large tube and have had four people on it..Granted they were 18 years old,14 10 and 7 but I have ample power in my case, can give them more ride than they can take if I desire to.....

I think that you will be able to handle it. I used to tow my 2 sons and one of thier friends in a 3 person tube. My boat was a 17ft with a 15. I could feel it, especially when I got the tube whipping around the ouside of the wake. They all had a blast out there.

Each boy was close to the 200lb mark when I did it, that's why I think yours will do it

i had myself get towed with a 90 v-4 i wiegh in the area of 200 plus about 500 in the boat the engine will handle it but like old jeep said check what you have the rope connected to on the boat 500 pounds then tube stress is a LOT of stress if need be buy new hardware and put in some heavy duty backing plates.
