I saw in another thread, Barlow mentioned using an insulin needle for, among other things :) , "puffing crawler tails." I'm guessing he's not pushing some new kind of shootem up drug. and I don't think I would find that mentioned in the Kama Sutra, now would I?

Are you actually inflating plastic worms to get better action? I'd like to hear a bit more about that, if you're inclined to share.

thnaks,
jtw

Ahoy, JTexas.

Bass fishermen have been "shooting" air into live night crawlers for many years to get them to float or to rise above a sinker. Works very well for certain types of cover.

One of those secrets that doesn't get much press because it doesn't sell lures.

I don't know if it would work on plastics or not, but I don't see why not.

Now that you've told me, don't you have to shoot me? That needs to remain a secret lest P-E-T-A find out!

Most plastics float anyway, but you got me thinking, that would probly leave a trail of bubbles...might have to give it some thought.

thanks

Wait, a couple questions first:

1. Does that weapon have a bayonnet?

2. Look! over there...is that...John Kerry?

Speaking of Kerry, heard a good one the other day. A teacher was trying to convince her students to be Kerry supporters and thought that she had done a pretty good job. She asked, "How many of you are going to be Kerry supporters?" All of the students raised their hands except one, so she asked,"Aren't you going to be a Kerry supporter?" The little boy replied "No". So she asked him why. He responded, "My mother is a George W. Bush supporter, my father is a George W. Bush supporter, and I am a George W. Bush supporter. The teacher being a little miffed asked, "So if your mother was a moron, and your father was an idiot, what would that make you?" and the little boy replied, "A Kerry supporter."

New member, but long time Crawler user, I have caught some really great fish on Just a bit of air to float the worm off the bottom, I have used it in Utah for 5+lb rainbows and browns, to walleyes and bass in Missouri. Now living in Florida and have used it a few times but still not quite getting anything. Still learning the areas and baits. just use the hypo to fill up just a bit of air, and even used it just to drift on streams on the surface. good luck but keep the hypos in the tackle box, and watch the clogs, if it doesnt take air in then dont try and push air out it will push off the needle into you at a high velocity, speaking from experience.

In bait shops you can buy a small plastic bottle with a needle on it for inflating crawlers.

top-secret (no longer) weapon for slugish walleye hugging bottom.
Used this for years...we mostly use floting jig-heads to accomplish simular results now.
