Protecting the sides of the boat from the sun

I am forced to store my boat outside for the summer months and it kills me to know that the sun hits the sides every day. Does anyone have any suggestions on shading them? I was thinking of somehow rigging up some tarps or something. Obviously the interior is covered but I want to keep the harsh sun from fading the exterior.

Thanks!

Keep a good coat of quality wax on it and it shoudl be fine, also watch covering it with anything ,what ever you use will futter in the wind and rub on the hull, do that enough and now you have abrasions so your cure may be worse than the disease.

A 'temporary shelter' would be about the only thing to do as it would not come in contact with the sides, etc.

your boat will be OK uncovered for the summer. Wax is better than a physical cover. Maybe you can alternate how you park it.

When you use it, constantly go in circles so the sun hits all sides evenly.

I am going to completely disagree with wax being better than a cover. I honestly believe the UV protecting qualities are nothing more than marketing hype.
I have two boats and live down here in the sunshine state where sun damage is a serious concern 12 months of the year. Both of my boats have full covers and look like new (one is a 2003 and the other is a 1995). A full cover is one of the few things you can buy for your boat that will pay for itself.
