I'm thinking about buying my first boat, a pontoon. I like fishing and I would like to take the family out for a day on the water. Which pontoon would best do both? Any info from persons that has any experience in this would be helpful. :D

The main difference between them is the fishin barge has livewells and a couple pedestal seats and the party barge has more couch area.

Mine is a mix.... I have a lot of couch areas for pontoon party time. The couches are light (plastic bases) and not attached, so I move a few of them to my truck when it is fishing time. i can also move the couches to be back-to-back so I can keep the seating, but open up the railing area for water access.

Opens the front of the pontoon up for fishing. I do have some folding chairs for sitting, but most pople enjoy standing & casting.

I have a full bimini to cover the whole pontoon area. Everyone likes that to keep the sun off when fishing. Even fished in a light rain, and everyone stayed dry.

lastly, just IMO, fishing seats on the pontoon front deck would be in the way unless they are removeable. Again, the front deck of my toon is open and people like to stand up there and cast.

welcome to Iboats.

You don't say where you will use this, but it's your first boat, so be aware that a pontoon is a specialty design that works well in some waters and not at all in others; do your homework in that regard.
