Propulsion Problem

Last night cruising up the river after having lobster at our favorite Lobster dock and the 85 horse Evinrude Outboard (old, I have a post pending to determine age) sounded like there was seaweed on the prop. I checked and the prop was clean. I put the motor down and started forward again and it still sounded like there was something on the prop. I backed off the throttle but I just kept losin propulsion until the motor would not move the boat. We were towed to a marina by a good samaritan and the boat now sits in my garage awaiting repairs. Any ideas as to what the problem might be would be appreciated.

The Striped Bass are calling!

Don Marsh
Woolwich Maine

Re: Propulsion Problem

No Fishing Line around the prop, I took the prop off and looked. How do I determine if I "spun the hub?" and how do I fix it if I did.

Thanks
Don Marsh
Woolwich, Maine

Re: Propulsion Problem

From your description not 100% sure if this is your problem , just a maybe. A prop shop should be able to tell you more. I payed $30 to rehub, $70 to straighten, weld and balance a s.steel prop.
MRM
