Propshaft seals leaking----again

After 2 hours in the water, the propshaft seals are leaking again and am therefor afraid the shaft is not in good shape. At $425 for a new propshaft P/N 4445452 for a Merc 1, S/N 2361794 , I am open to suggestions for renewing the surface of the shaft. Any suggestions???<br /><br />TIA,<br />swabbie

Are you sure the bearings are good.<br />You need to do a pressure test to try to determine where the leak is. It could be somewhere other than the prop shaft.<br /> If you have a manual it will probably discribe this test.

Assumming the seal surface of the shaft is grooved,and that's where it's leaking, you can have a machine shop "spray-weld" that area.
