throw back....

Check with your dealer on operating range at WOT (wide open throttle). RPMS sound a little low to me. Not really a big rig guy but I would say a four blade prop would give you more push but maybe drop your speed some. May want to stay with the three blade set up. I'm sure one of the other guys on here that live near the big ponds will be able to help.

OBJim

Yeah 4 grand does sound low for WOT. Your question kinda depends on how the boat is performing at the moment, does get out of the hole quick enough, if not, the four blade will generally improve that but if it does get up and go without any dramas the three sounds fine, you can de-pitch your props and your acceleration will improve but you will loose top end speed however it will also raise your rpms at top end, maybe into the WOT throttle range which is where it should be. As Outboardjim said, check what the WOT range is for your motor and go from there. good luck

Re: props

sorry guys for the late reply.I'm new at this.I may have steered ya'll in the wrong direction.my boat will run 56mph at 5500 rpm. It comes out of the hole great.I was woundering about midrange would a 4blade prop give me more speed and less rpm.I can lose a little top end very seldom can I run 56 mph In the gulf.fuel milage is what i'm looking for. A good summer run would be 60 to 80 miles.

A 4-blade probably won't give you any better top end, and in fact they usually slow it down due to more blade resistance through the water. Without dropping a little diameter, the 4-blade will drop rpm. Most 4-blades are smaller diameter because of this. Also a 3-bladed prop will be more efficient, if efficiency is what you're looking for. However, the 4-bladed prop will give better control in rough seas and when cornering/steering, as it "holds the water" better and helps prevent cavitation. It should also give you a little bit more trim and allow you to raise the bow more.

By the looks of it, you're set up almost perfect now, but you could always try it and see. Counter rotates?
