We are purchasing a Lund Tyee 1950 with a '99 175hp Johnson Ficht. The boat currently has an aluminum prop and I want to put a Stainless Steel prop on the bugger.... I know the prop should be sized to turn 5800rpm but how do I determine the pitch that will put me in the sweet spot? Our family enjoys fishing and skiing. Also I have been told to de-carbon the motor every fifty hours. How do you do that on this type of motor?

Re: Prop's and carbon.

Moondoggy, great boat, I had one and regret did sell it, nothing runs like a Lund.<br />Anyway, I cannot help with motor, but for prop choice you can reference at this link<br /><br /> http://www.michiganwheel.com/MIWheel/html/products/outboard/PSearch.asp <br /><br />Follow drop down menus, and it will give you a choice, then you'll know what "ballpark" size to look for. I have a Evinrude 150 ProV and I use a 14.25 x 23" pitch

moondoggy,<br /><br />Do a search on this site using the keyword: "decarb". You'll have plenty to read.

I love my Ficht! (2001 115)<br /><br />Decarb details at:<br /> http://www.boatsetup.com/Decarb_FICHT.html <br /><br />My aluminum OMC 15X17 3 blade turns 5,650.<br />My stainless OMC (SSTII) 15X16 turns 5,800.<br />A stainless OMC 15X15 turned 5,900.<br /><br />No loss in speed between the 16 and 17<br />Lost 2+ mph between the 15 and the 17 but the hole show was dyanmite.
