Propr Shaft/Dimensions For Engine?

First, I wanted to thank everyone...this site is very helpful and my last question was answered and very informative!<br />I am trying to find a used Prop Shaft for my 1973 850 85hp Mercury Engine...not that its a huge deal, I've found many sites and people that have the used shaft that I need but I was just curious if there are other shafts that can be compatible with the original? No big deal...I guess, its just a silly question. Thank you.<br /> Ben
