picked up a nice 15 hp for a kicker on my 20 foot Lowe roughneck..it runs a 115 .the boat weighs about 1100 lbs...

I am wondering if I have to prop this kicker a special way so when i need it to puch my boat that i am in the right rpm range...and not over work the motor...

or does it matter...since the boat wont be on plane??

and if there is a better prop for this scenario...please tell me what it is...

i will use the 15 for a smaller boat once in a while..but can easily change the prop if need be if the kicker application needs a special one.

do they even make different pitch props for motors as small as 15 hp??

thanks

Re: propping a kicker motor

Bob,
My nissan 8hp came with a 8 pitch 3 blade. I do alot of slow trolling and alwas had to keep the rpm real low to attian the speed i wanted. I picked up a solas 5 pitch 4 blade here on iboats, seems to help with the rpms also a lot less throttle adjusting with the wind and chop. I think a high thrust prop would be a good investment for anyone that does alot of trolling with a kicker.
Thight lines,
Bruce
