I'm planning to winterize the a Yamaha F115 4 stroke motor myself this fall so this is what I think that I have to do. The motor is just out of the shop from the 10 hour breakin check-up (oil filter, oil change upper & lower) - and I expect to run another 10-15 hours doing fall fishing.

I'm interested in comments on what isn't right or what I'm forgetting...

Add fuel stabilizer & top off fuel tank
Change and internal gas filter
Change external fuel/water separator
Fog engine using muffs
Change engine oil & replace oil filter
Change lower unit oil
Pour RV antifreeze through upper flush fitting till it runs out bottom
Remove prop & grease spline
Plug fuel overflow vent

don't change the filters until spring. the gas may clog them even with stabilizer.

i would get the tank as low as possible and drain the tank if convenient.

you can access most gas tanks by finding and removing the fuel gauge sender if you cant siphon through the filler neck.

modern gas will not store well even with stabilizer. the alcohol in the gas absorbs water out of the air. pre mix. is even worse, the oil and fuel can separate.

if you do store the boat with a full tank, don't change the filters until the old gas is used up. they may clog rapidly. always have a spare filter on board.

carefully inspect the lower unit oil for metal savings and water.

remove the prop and check for fishing line, which will destroy the seals.

If you have your owners manual, do what it says for winterizing.

every year i top off my tank with fuel stabilizer and i have no prob in the spring. this will be year 5 with eathonal gas. so i dont think seperation is a prob if the tank is full. Full As Full As Full can be.
