The Tires on my trailer are 20.5x8x10,load range C tubeless, Max load 1535 at 90 psi cold. Can anyone give me some info on these. My brother has the same tires on his toon and he has a problem with them running hot on trips. I have not noticed this with mine but I am only 10 - 15 miles from where I put in at.I will be towing about 100 miles this weekend and want to get some input from members. I should mention that mine is a 17' toon while his is a 22' toon, both on single axles.
Thanks
Michael

Re: Proper Tires?

Must be he is running underinflated or his idea of hot is anything hotter than 98.6,, big truck tires on 80,000gvw trucks run hot due to flexing.

Re: Proper Tires?

Are they Carlise's ? I had mega problems with their C and D range. Blowouts, broken belts etc. Replaced with Goodyear Marathons. Whole different comfort level.

Re: Proper Tires?

Need to update info. Load range is E not C. gutshot, thats what I asked him, he said that he is properly inflated but, only he knows. He drives trucks for a living so I will take his word that the inflation is right. He did tell me that it is only on the right side that he has problems. Three tires have blown out in last 4 months, 10 - 14 trips at 100 to 125 miles each. I wonder if he has several problems, 1 underinflation, 2 maybe dropping right side off road edge and cutting tire, 3 To much weight for single axle trailer, 4 High speeds, he will pull his toon at 70 - 75 on interstate.
NYMINUTE, They are Carlisle's, on his trailer and on mine. I have heard some bad things about Carlisle's before but see them on a lot of toons and campers, so would not think they were that bad of a tire. I think that when I replace mine I may change, but mine are almost new and I hate to spend money that I could be using for bait and gas.But I don't want to chance a blow out on the road either.
What do other user's think, let me know what your experience with Carlisle's are.
Thanks
Michael

Re: Proper Tires?

I'd say he is maxing the tires out on weight. I have the similar size tires on a 20' toon and it's borderline. I tow long distances with an empty gas tank and heavy gear in the car trunk. That helps the tire load by approx 500 lbs.

He did tell me that it is only on the right side that he has problems.
He could also have a bent axle or spindle on the right side.
