Proper timing for a 1989 Mercruiser 5.7L vortec???

What is the proper timing degree setting for the 1989 Mercruiser 5.7L Vortec. It states Thunderbolt ignition on the top cover. I have read that their is no wire to "ground" and it is 8 degrees BTDC since the bulletin came out years ago. Thoughts?

Ayuh,.... What's the question,..?? 8? BTDC sounds good to me,.....

Btw,... Vortec didn't happen til '96,.....

If ya added Vortec heads to the '89 motor, ya still time it the same,....
