Proper Starter Pinion 77 Evinrude 55 HP

Evinrude 55773d. It shows 2 starters Prestolite or American Bosch. My gear pinion is 10 teeth not 9. Stop nut backed out while on water..I think the pinion separated. I used nylon nut from steering wheel to put back together or I'd be somewhere adrift in Long Island Sound.
Got back to dock and shut her down. Started her up and starter was spinning free. That nut also backed out. So I want to be sure I'm buying the correct kit to make it correct. I've attached some pics.

Thank You. I cant find a 10 tooth. All I've seen are 9. Stupid question. Does it matter?

You have to find one that fits the Prestolite starter !

I've since installed a new starter. A replacement for MGD 4007. A 9 tooth did work just the same.
