Newbie here ! I have question I've recently purchased a 17' Gregor skiff with a 1990 Yamaha 2 stroke 40 hp. The question I have is prop size currently it has a dinged up prop in really bad shape and I need to replace it. The prop is a Solas C 3 X 11.1 X 13 aluminum is there anyway to know if this is the right prop or to change to something thats faster with out a tach. I'm using the boat out in the ocean in Alaska for fishing, the four of us plus some gear not much boat is really light. In fact with just me and my son it feels loose and scary at times, also I've read theres props that runs close to the surface or at the surface. cheers

Re: Proper prop size

used tachs are about $10-20 on ebay, be sure it is an outboard tach not an auto tach.
