Proper boat trailer size?

Hello everyone,
I'm new to boat ownership and I apologize if I do not use the correct terminology. I recently bought an aluminum 16' 1987 Starcraft Supersport with a 40 hp Mariner manual lift motor (soon to be replaced with a 60 hp Mariner with hydraulic lift) with 9 hp kicker. The owner had replaced the original EZ loader trailer with a 2001 Yacht Club model 1612B. I'm worried the trailer may be undersize for the boat by appearance (looks small under the boat and the original small tires had a lot of sidewall flex). I'm not sure how much this boat weighs by itself with the standard equipment (motors, fuel tanks, batteries, floor, seats, consoles, windshield etc). The trailer says it fits a 12-16' boat with a maximum GVWR of 1,450 lbs. The trailer has only 1 roller in the center on the keel that rubbed a hole through I had to have repaired (I plan to add more rollers to help support the weight). The boat trailer is approximately 48" wide at its widest point and 38" to the outside of the rear bunks. The bunks fit snugly on the inside of the outer keel runners and appear to support that section of the boat well. It had the tiny 4.80/12 tires on it originally that I replaced with full size 13" tires for distance towing. Do you think that trailer is sufficient or should I buy a different trailer that is wider with a higher weight capacity? Thank you for your help and opinions!!!!

If you google the boat motor and trailer specs it would appear that the weights and capacities are in line, as long as you don't overload the boat with a a lot of junk when you take it camping. Your upgrades shoule have added more safety.

Just check the weight ratings of your new tires to be sure they meet or exceed 1450 pounds.

I have added full keel rollers to many a trailer and it sure makes for a slick operation.
