3.0 Liter Mercruiser Alpha I
17',6" Sea Ray 2000lbs.
21x14.25 Factory Prop

Factory Prop bent to heck by a partially submerged 2x10x12 in a 20 mph run-in. Picked up remains of lumber and deposited on dry land back at ramp. Used to spend summers as a kid in my jon boat picking up trash in the lake. Does anyone do this sort of thing anymore?

My boat has a release feature on the Alpha I outdrive so it popped up on impact but the prop and the anode were bent. Got back to the ramp limping.

Bought a Hustler Aluminum prop(Same pitch and diameter), new hub, and a new anode(Had to replace the old one because the new prop wouldnt clear it).

Questions:
Is it possible that the Hustler prop decreased the cavitation problem that I was formerly having?

Is there more than visual inspection and test driving that I need to do to to ensure that the lower unit is ok?

Can old propellers be repaired even if there is a slight tear in one of the blades?

Thanks.
