Ok I have a 14/1/4" 19 pitch 3 blade prop.
Going to get a new 1 need some help on
What brand. Is the black max an ok prop for its price?
Just use it for pulling. What will a 4 blade do for me?
Think I will stick to aluminum trying to stay under $200

Re: prop

You should have a read in the engine FAQ section. There is a thread on prop selection and one on WOT. Great place to start!!

Re: prop

A four blade will be better out of the hole. Great for skiing tubing etc. With your cost restrictions you have, buy a used 4 blade SS(ebay) or a aluminum. Iboats has some good deals but not many 4 blade aluminum props. I got a Michigan Wheel Vortex 4 blade AL with hub kit from boaters outlet for $130. It really made a bif difference. I went from a 3 blade 23p to 4 blade 20P. If you are running at the proper WOT for your motor now you will need to go down an inch in pitch maybe more.

Ditto to the post about reading the FAQ section on props. A lot can be learned.

Re: prop

I hear good things about Hustler props and iboats has the aluminimum version on sale for 89.00. I am thinking about ordering a 14.25 X 21 for my 17.5 imperial, to replace a 14.25 X 19, my current wot is about 5000 rpms.

Re: prop

5000 rpm is slightly high, the 21in prop should lower your revs just right.
