I HAVE A 1967 16' STARCRAFT WITH A 65 HP MERCURY ON IT. THE 65 CAME OFF 18' OLD BOAT.<br />IT HAS A QUICKSILVER 17 PTTCH ON IT.<br />WHAT PITCH DO YOU THINK IT WOULD TAKE.<br />HAVE NOT BEEN ON THE THE WATER TO SEE WHAT RPM IT'S TURNING AT WOT. I JUST THOUGHT IT SHOULD GO TO 21 OR 23 PITCH AND YOUR THOUGHTS.<br />REX A.<br />I KNOW I NEED TO GET TO THE WATER FIRST BUT<br />WITH DIFFERANCE IN WEIGHT?

Rex,<br /><br />A 65 hp. is going to have a hard time pulling a 21-23 inch prop. unless it's on a VERY light boat.<br /><br />I would tach. it out with the 17" and go from there. A 17 might even be too much. You don't want to "lug" these engines.

Rex -- We used to use a 19" SST on the aluminum 18' center console with a 70 E'rude. I just fooled with a 16' Starcraft side console with an 88 on it. Quite an interesting rig. <br /><br />Let me know how you make out when you test it with the 17. I may have some new "test" props that will work.<br /><br />Good luck!
