Re: prop trouble

You're Going the Wrong Way..... Go to a 19", or even a 21"..... The Only way to know for Sure, Is to Try one,+ See where your RPMs fall too...... You Should be turning around 4600rpms, at WOT....
Is this your Dealer's First Sale ???? He SHOULD Know Better......

Senior Chief
Want to ask one question first. Is boat loaded with the normal gear you will carry or running very lite. I belive your WOT RPM's should be 4400-4800. Assuming boat has the gear in it you will normally carry then I would go with a 19 pitch stainless steel. This will reduce your rpm about 400 rpms to 4600. This is also assuming that 5000 was at full throttle. I mean if it hit the rev limiter at 3/4 throttle then you even need more pitch, a 21 inch. You can expect about 200 rpm change per inch of pitch change. I would tell dealer you want to exchange for the higher pitch prop. Stainless steel will usually give you about 2 to 3 mph increase over aluminum.
