I have a 1988 245 vista with the 5.7 liter omc cobra out drive. The trim tilt goes down fine, but whe i try to raise it i have to keep pressing the up switch several time before/if the trim engages. My outdrive also dosent seem to come up fast or the way it has been. It just seems to me like its not getting connection. So my question is where is the best and easiest place to start looking for the problem?

just follow the wires from the trim pump. Clean all terminal connections - positive and ground with some emery cloth or fine sandpaper until shiny.
