Can anyone provide specifics on this prop?

I recently inherited a 16' Tuffy bass boat with a 1983 50HP Mariner outboard.
The prop on the motor is stamped 2078t 13. It seems a little undersized, but I'm not sure. I have been unable to find specifics on this prop or if it is the correct one for this motor.

Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

The best way to find out if the prop is right for your boat is to tell us what rpm's you reach at wide open throttle(WOT). Other things that would help is what do you do with your boat, such as you do only high speed poker runs, or pull tubes and or a waterskier.

The manual states the full throttle range is 5000-5500 though there is no tach to verify it is running within that range. I would continue to use it for fishing but would also like to pull a tube. I'm pretty sure 50HP will not pull a skier. I would use it on a fairly small lake (approx 3 sq. miles) so top speed is not a big concern.

I learned to waterski behind a 25 hp outboard, so your 50 will pull a skier with no problem. It's important for the health of your outboard that you run near the top of the suggested rpm's at WOT. Is it possible for a local marina to loan you a tiny tach so you know where you are starting at regarding your rpm's?

I should be able to attach a small tach to verify the rpm's. Assuming the rpm's are in that range, does that mean the prop is proper size/pitch?

Yes it does. If not try to use the general rule that for every 1" of pitch change you should see a 200 rpm change. This is for the same mfg and style of the prop. Go from a 15 inch prop to a 17 inch prop you should see the rpm's decrease by 400 and go from a 17 inch to a 15 inch should see an increase of 400 rpm's.
