Prop Size

As most of you know I had a low RPM problem last year. At the end of my troubleshooting nightmare I discovered I was losing a cylinder at ~3200RPM. After removing the heads it looked like I was ingesting water (anti-freeze) in one of the cylinders.

I replaced the heads and intake manifold with Vortecs.....gaining some HP.

Question is what size prop should I be turning? I had a 15" on the boat when I had the problem, I am thinking of starting out with a 17".
Boat weights about 4000#.

I may have already asked this question, sorry for the redundancy........ :)

Re: Prop Size

Start out with the one that came with the boat................
It probably used that size prop since 92, now you want to change it without a reason? You need to know your WOT rpms "BEFORE" getting another prop.

I completely agree with Don, take the boat out and see how it performs with the 15p. See how high your rpm's get at full throttle and then check back to see if you can gain anything by changing the prop.
